About this recipe: This fruity jam is wonderful when served warm on top of pancakes and waffles, or spread on toast when it's cool.


Serves: 12 

  • 1 kg ripe bananas
  • 75ml fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (dark brown soft sugar preferred)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Prep:5min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:15min 

  1. Combine all ingredients in a mixie and purée until smooth. Heat a pan over medium heat. Add mixture and bring to a boil. Simmer slowly till mixture is thickened. Serve warm over pancakes, or cool and serve as a jam.


Add this cooled compote to ice cream and milk, and blend all together for a banana milk shake!
