Homemade Butter

    10 mins

Remember when dadima used to move her wooden madhani in cream, churning it into butter singing her Durga stuti? For times when that's not possible, here's a quicker version. Just put heavy cream in a food processor and run it till it turns into butter. It's a good experiment for the kids to watch, too!

Our family celebrates Janmashtmi on a huge scale. We always make dishes with milk, curd, halwa on this day. Today, I also followed this recipe.  -  02 Sep 2010

I love homemade butter. I was surprised this recipe did not give any hints for what to do after your done blending - make sure you rinse the buttermilk out of the butter with cold running water, pushing the liquid out with a spatula. Salt should be added after the rinsing. Also, your cream and supplies should be very cold at all times for a good smooth consistency. Use at least 30% milk fat cream.  -  06 Mar 2008  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
