    About this recipe: These crunchy biscuits redolent with the flavour of saunf are perfect with tea or coffee.

    Serves: 16 

    • 2 eggs
    • 150g caster sugar
    • 1 teaspoon saunf (anise seed)
    • 100g plain flour

    1. Preheat oven to 190 C. Grease and flour a 23x12cm (9x5 in) loaf tin.
    2. Beat the eggs and sugar thoroughly. Add the anise seed, then mix in the flour. Scrape dough into the prepared loaf tin (it will only be about 1/2 full).
    3. Bake for about 20 minutes or until a fork inserted in the centre comes out clean. Remove from pan and slice into 16 slices. Place slices on a baking sheet and bake for 5 minutes until bottom is browned. Turn and bake for another 5 minutes until the other side is browned.
