    Serves: 4

    • 75g besan
    • 175ml water
    • 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
    • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
    • 1 tablespoon coriander seeds
    • 1 onion, halved and thinly sliced
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
    • 1 pinch ground turmeric
    • 2 chillies, seeded and minced
    • 225ml vegetable oil for frying

    Directions
    Prep:15min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:25min

    1. In a medium bowl, mix together the besan, water, salt, chilli powder, turmeric, cumin, coriander seeds, onion and minced chillies until it forms a smooth mixture with no flour lumps.
    2. Heat the oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. When the oil is sizzling hot, drop dough by tablespoonfuls, and fry until golden brown on each side. Drain on kitchen roll and serve hot with chilli sauce for dipping.

Does it have to be Gram Flour or can you use any?  -  21 Feb 2010  (Review from Allrecipes UK | Ireland)

Very Tasty and easy to do. Had a bit of trouble finding the right flour by the right name. Ended up with Chana Flour which is Besan which is chick pea.  -  30 Dec 2009  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)

Used this recipe tonight - instead of mixing the vegetables in with the flour mixture, we just dipped the veggies in the flour mixture, then put them in the fondue pot. Had to thin out the flour mixture with extra water - but the combination of cumin & chili powder was delicious with the veggies (we used sweet potatoes, potatoes, broccoli, onions, zucchini, mushrooms, & cauliflower - yum!).  -  18 Jan 2009  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
