Chum Chum

    This is a wildly popular mishti from Bengal. Every household serves it on special occasions. Feel free to add your own special touch to my recipe.

    Serves: 6 

    • 1 cup water
    • 1 cup sugar
    • Chenna from 1 litre of cow's milk
    • 2 tbspn flour
    • 2-3 drops of lemon color
    • A few strands of saffron
    • 1/4 tspn cardamom powder
    • 100 gms condensed milk (unsweetened)

    1. Melt sugar in water and heat up to make a thin syrup.
    2. Knead the paneer/chenna with flour and shape into oval shaped fingers, mix in them to the sugar syrup and boil for 50 minutes.
    3. Take off from heat up and mix in lemon color to the syrup.
    4. Cool for a while and take off the chum-chums from the syrup. Mix in saffron and cardamom powder to sugarless, creamy, condensed milk. Spread this on each piece and serve.
