About this recipe: I learned this rawa coated, gingery beef dish from my in-laws. It is a good appetizer for a crowd or as a side dish.

Serves: 4 

  • 250 gms Beef (preferrably undercut)
  • 1 cup Coriander leaves
  • 4 Green Chillies
  • 4 Garlic cloves
  • 1 inch piece of ginger
  • 8 Peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Tumeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon Vinegar
  • 1/2 Cup Rawa
  • Salt To taste
  • Oil for shallow frying

  1. Cut the meat into thin slices and pound it to flatten it. Apply salt and set aside.
  2. Grind together the green chillies, coriander leaves, garlic, ginger, peppercorns, tumeric powder and cumin into a fine paste. Put this masala on the slices and mix well. Put in 1 tablespoon of vinegar and let it marinate for at least 2 hours.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan. Take each slice and coat both sides with the rawa and put into the hot oil. Fry on both sides till they are brown and the meat is cooked.

I made this. was tasty. Only problem is that the cook time is not mentioned. I cooked 3 to 4 mins on each side and I used bread crumbs as I did not have rava. - 24 Nov 2014
