Punjabi Kadi

    This is an easy recipe to make especially on a cold winter afternoon! I add an ingredient to it which makes it a little more sour if you are using fresh yoghurt!

    Serves: 5 

    • 2 cups yoghurt
    • 4 tbsp besan
    • 2 tsp cumin seeds
    • 2 tsp rai
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
    • 1 pinch heeng
    • 3 tbsp dry methi leaves
    • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
    • 2 tsp chat masala
    • 1 clove garlic
    • 2 inch ginger
    • 1 onion finely chopped
    • 2 sprigs fresh coriander leaves
    • 4 tbsp vegetable oil
    • salt to taste

    1. Place yoghurt in a bowl,add besan and blend it either with a spoon or a hand held blender.
    2. Place oil in a pot and saute the onions,ginger garlic till light brown and add the rest of the ingredients and saute for a minute.
    3. Add the yoghurt and besan mixure and let it simmer for about 30 minutes.
    4. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve.


    You can add besan pakoras to the above recipe and let it simmer for another 5 mins before serving.
