Here's a new way to enjoy bananas. Just sprinkle them with lemon juice and rolled in brown sugar and cinnamon and cook. Great with vanilla ice cream. You can also cook them it in a frying pan with melted butter.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 4

    • 4 bananas
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 175g dark brown soft sugar
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • vanilla ice cream, to serve

    1. Preheat barbecue or a grill pan or a tawa for low heat.
    2. Halve each of the bananas lengthwise, then widthwise. Sprinkle bananas with lemon juice. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll banana pieces in sugar/cinnamon mixture until well coated.
    3. Lightly oil the tawa/pan/barbecue's cooking grate. Arrange bananas on grate, and cook for 3 minutes per side. Serve in a bowl with a scoop of vanilla ice cream topped with a sprinkling of remaining cinnamon/sugar mixture.

These bananas are so good! I put them in foil before I put them on the grill and they were great and no mess. Thanks!  -  05 Dec 2005  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)

I made this recipe on a recent camping trip. The only change I made was to put the bananas in a foil packet on the grill instead of directly on the grate (campsite fire-ring grate was pretty nasty looking). The bananas were done perfectly, and by putting it in a foil pack, we had all the wonderful juices to use as a syrup over ice cream. Even better, the few leftovers that were remaining, we used as a fruit topping to the "Baked French Toast" casserole (also on allrecipes)the next morning. Delicious. Made the mess once, enjoyed it twice!!! Will definitely make this again.  -  23 Aug 2009  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
