This is a popular recipe for kheer, flavoured with cardamon and rose water. Serve warm or cold. Fresh milk, rice and nuts are considered 'satvic' foods in Ayurveda. Satvic foods help balance one's doshas (subtle energies), nourish the body, the mind and ultimately, pave the way for one's spiritual evolution.

Aviyal is a South Indian delicacy, a hugely popular vegetarian dish that we make for festivals and auspicious events. Almost every household makes a different style of aviyal inspite of the same ingredients – vegetables, curd, coconut and spices. My mother’s from Andhra and this is her recipe. Hope you’ll like it as much as we do.

Shrikhand is a Maharashtrian-Gujarati sweet dish, great for festivals. It can be eaten by itself or as part of a meal. I like it with pooris.
