Humaira Aunty's Jeera Pulao (Cumin Rice)

    I have never tried this recipe, but I heard that it has a strong flavor of jeera ( cumin)seeds. It is very easy to make and can be eaten with Kababs or any sort of curry.

    Serves: 4 

    • 2 tablespoon Vegetable oil or Ghee
    • 1 tablespoon Whole Jeera ( cumin) seeds
    • 2 cups Washed basmati or pulao rice
    • 4 cups Boiled hot water
    • 1 handful Motorshuti ( green round beans)
    • For garnishing-a few leaves Coriander leaves
    • For garnishing-3 to 4 pieces Green chillies

    1. Heat vegetable oil or ghee if preferred on low heat.
    2. Add whole jeera ( cumin) seeds to the hot oil and fry the seeds until the distinct type of jeera smell comes out and the seeds are sizzling.
    3. Add washed basmati or pulao rice to the same pot of oil and jeera seeds. Also add salt as needed for taste.
    4. Fry the rice until it clumps together.
    5. Add in boiled hot water to the fried rice and jire seeds. At this point you can add in a handful of motorshuti if you want ( green round beans).
    6. Let the rice boil with the jeera seeds and motorshuti-it should not take more than 20 minutes.
    7. When the rice has boiled, drain the water using a sieve, let the rice stand for 2-3 minutes and serve the hot rice with some coriander leaves and green chillies.

    Serving suggestion

    Its great with Kababs and Achar :) !
