About this recipe: Pooti Chepa Shutki Bhorta is native to Mymensingh district of Bangladesh. It is extremely spicy and yummy. The pooti shutki has a distinct smell that gives the bhorta a unique edge. It is served with steaming plain white rice.

Serves: 4 

  • 4 pieces of Pooti Mach Chepa Shutki ( dried Pooti fish)
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 3 onions, sliced
  • 1 big garlic, sliced
  • 8-10 green chillies
  • salt as needed

  1. Wash the chepa shutki in water and set aside. Do not wash with warm or hot water, or else the fish will melt.
  2. Heat oil on a tawa and fry the onions, garlic, green chillies and shutki pieces.
  3. Place the fried ingredients on a sheel pata. Grind well with some salt.

Serving suggestion

Serve with plain white rice or chuwa pitha.
