Taki Mach er Bhorta (Taki Fish Mash)

    A traditional Bengali spicy fish mash best served with plain white rice.

    • 4-5 taki fishes
    • Oil as needed
    • 1 tablespoon of sliced onions
    • 1/2 teaspoon of ginger paste
    • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic paste
    • 4-5 green chilies
    • Salt as needed
    • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder


    1. Wash the fishes properly and set aside.
    2. Heat oil in a pan and fry the sliced onions and ginger and garlic pastes and green chilies until these ingredients turn red. Transfer the fried ingredients on a plate.
    3. Add the fish pieces and sprinkle the salt and turmeric powder
    4. Fry the fishes in the same pan used to fry the onions and ginger. Put all of the fried ingredients on a sheel pata.
    5. Grind the ingredients so that a soft paste forms.
    6. Serve with plain white rice.
