Kathaler Pitha (Jackfruit Pitha)

    This is a sweet seasonal pitha made when jack fruits are widely available.

    • 1 cup of powdered atop rice
    • 4 tablespoons of jackfruit extract
    • 1/2 cup of sugar
    • Powder milk-if needed to add thickness
    • Oil for deep frying-as needed


    1. Mix the atop rice with jackfruit extract and sugar in a bowl.
    2. Add powder milk if the mixture is too fluid.
    3. Heat 1-2 cups of oil in a deep frying pan.
    4. Make a lump of the rice and jackfruit mixture with a deep spoon.
    5. Pour the lump on the bubbling oil.
    6. Deep fry until golden brown.
    7. Serve!
