Tamarind Cumin Juice

    The combination of tamarind and cumin is indeed devine! Try it out to cheer up from a dull mood or cool down in a hot day!

    • tamarind pieces-as preferred on level of sourness
    • 2 tablespoons of sugarcane jaggery
    • 2 tablespoons of sugar
    • 1/2 liter of water
    • 3-4 toasted dried chilies that have been grinded into a powder so that 1 teaspoon can be collected
    • 1/2 teaspoon of black salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon of cumin seeds, toasted and grinded


    1. Soak the tamarind pieces in warm water for a little while. Mix the pieces well with water and sieve the mixture through a muslin filter to collect the tamarind extract in a bowl. Set aside.
    2. Mix the sugarcane jaggery and sugar with water. Sieve the mixture through a muslin filter and collect the extract in a jar. Set aside.
    3. Now mix the tamarind extract with the palm date jaggery-sugar extract. Sprinkle the grinded dried chili, black salt and cumin powder. Stir and mix well.
    4. If preferred, a few finely sliced mint leaves can be added.
    5. Sprinkle 2 mint leaves for decoration.
    6. Serve cold.
