About this recipe: Rui mach er deem er bora is a delicacy to Bengalis. Serve with plain rice as a side dish or as a snack with sauce.

  • 1 cup of rui fish eggs
  • 1/2 cup of onion slices
  • 1 teaspoon of ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garam masala powder
  • salt as needed
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of rice powder
  • 2 cups of soybean oil


  1. Grind the eggs in a sheel pata.
  2. Mix in the onion slice, ginger and garlic pastes, coriander, red chili, turmeric and garam masala powders and salt with hand. Also mix in the lemon juice, sugar and rice powder.
  3. Heat a pan with the soybean oil.
  4. Make small balls out of the mixture. Deep fry until golden brown.
  5. Can be eaten as snacks or as side dish with rice.
