    About this recipe: Kochu is vegetable that has countless uses in Bengali cuisine. This recipe makes simple yet delicious afternoon snacks called "pakoras". Enjoy with ketchup or chutney.

    • 1 cup of peeled and sliced kochu
    • 1 cup of onion slices
    • 1 tablespoon of chopped green chilies
    • 1/2 teaspoon of ginger paste
    • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic paste
    • 3/4 teaspoon of baking powder
    • 2 eggs
    • salt as needed
    • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper powder
    • 1 tablespoon of chopped coriander leaves
    • 100 g of flour or rice powder
    • soybean oil for deep frying


    1. Mix all the ingredients excluding the oil. If needed add a bit of water to make a thick paste.
    2. Heat a deep frying pan with oil. Add a lump of the mixture to make a pakore on to the hot oil. Repeat to make a few more pakoras. Deep fry until the pakoras turn golden brown.
    3. Serve with ketchup of sauce.
