Masur Aamti

    Masur Aamti is a daal made of red lentils. Tomatoes used bring in added color and taste as well. Serve with steaming plain rice and pickles.

    Serves: 4 

    • 2 cups red masur dal
    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
    • 2 tablespoons chopped onions
    • 2 tablespoons chopped tomatoes
    • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon haldi powder
    • 2 teaspoons red chilly powder
    • 2 teaspoons garam masala powder
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon sugar

    1. Boil masur dal in a pressure cooker for 20 minutes.
    2. Heat a pan with oil. Sprinkle the cumin seeds on it and then stir fry onions and tomatoes in it.
    3. Then sprinkle the haldi, red chili and garam masala powders, salt and sugar and mix all the ingredients together.
    4. Now add the boiled masur dal to the and stir fry for 5 minutes.
