About this recipe: This is a cobi (cabbage) and batata (potatoes) based bhaji, which is simple and a typical dish in Maharashtra. It is lightly seasoned with cumin seeds, red chili, haldi and garam masala powders. Serve with rice or chapattis.

Serves: 3 

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2 teaspoons red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon haldi powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 cup chopped cabbage (cobi)
  • 1 cup chopped potatoes (batata)
  • salt as needed
  • chopped coriander leaves for garnishing

  1. Heat a pan with vegetable oil. Add cumin seeds, red chilli, haldi and garam masala powders.
  2. Now add cabbage and potato slices. Stir and mix well regularly to ensure even frying. Add salt and cook it until potato gets soft.
  3. Garnish with coriander leaves.
