About this recipe: Dal puri is a common Indian bread dish that is made from dal and flour. Enjoy these deep fried flat breads warm and with chutneys.

Serves: 4 

  • 1 cup cooked tur dal (cooked in ½ cup water with salt for 20 minutes)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • ½ teaspoon haldi powder
  • Salt as needed
  • ½ teaspoon carom seeds
  • Vegetable oil for deep frying

Prep:20min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Extra time:20min soaking  ›  Ready in:50min 

  1. Mix all the ingredients together except oil.
  2. Make thick dough.
  3. Now make small dough balls. Roll out each dough ball on to a medium sized chapatti or puri. Repeat for the rest of the dough balls.
  4. Heat a deep frying pan or kadhai. Deep fry the puris.
