About this recipe: This is an everyday meal that is prepared in almost every home in Maharashtria and India. It is simple and yet delicious. Serve warm with rice.

Serves: 2 

  • 2 potatoes, peeled
  • 1 tablespoon chopped onions
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon haldi powder
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Salt as needed

  1. Cut potatoes into cube shapes. Set aside.
  2. Heat a pan with oil. Add cumin and mustard seeds. Stir and add ginger garlic paste and onions. Stir and fry until the onions turn pink.
  3. Then add red chilli, garam masala and haldi powder and salt. Stir and mix, along with adding 2 cups of water. When bubbles start to form, add the cubed potatoes.
  4. Cook for 15-20 minutes of medium heat.
