Golden yellow cucumber onion chutney

    Yellow cucumber onion chutney is a special and tasty chutney,can be eaten with chapathi and rice.i learnt this recipe from my mom.

    Serves: 4 

    • Yellow cucumber-1/4 kg
    • Onions-100 gms
    • Jeera-15 gms
    • Methi-5 gms
    • Tamarind-10 gms or as per requirement
    • Garlic pods-10
    • Dry red chillies-12 to 15
    • Oil for frying and tempering
    • Musturd and jeera for tempering
    • Curry leaves
    • Salt to taste
    • Haldi powder- a pinch
    • Hing- a pinch

    1. Cut yellow cucumber into small pieces without taking out its cover and seeds,keep it aside.
    2. Cut onions into 4 pieces of each and keep it aside.
    3. Heat oil in a pan and fry the cucumber pieces into golden colour and keep it aside.
    4. Next fry onions into golden colour and keep it aside.
    5. Fry red chillies in oil and keep it aside.
    6. Roast methi and jeera and keep it aside.
    7. Slightly fry tamarind without seeds and keep it aside.
    8. Now put already fried yellow cucumber in a mixie pot and grind coarsley.
    9. Add onions to it and grind it coarsley.
    10. Keep the mixture of cucumber aside.
    11. Now take red chillies,tamarind,jeera,methi ,garlic pods ,haldi powder and salt and make it inta rough powder.
    12. Now mix yellow cucumber onion paste and the above said powder in the mixie with one grind.
    13. Lastly add little oil in a pan,add little mustard,jeera,hing and curry leaves for tempering add this to coarse chutney.


    (1)cucumber onions should be fried properly(2)chutney shouldn't be pasted,it should be coarse.
