Gooey Chocolate Cake

    8 hours 10 mins

You can chill and cut this cake into 'biscuits'. It's pure heaven for anyone who loves chocolate! Be patient, for best results - you will need to chill overnight or for at least 8 hours.

    Serves: 12

    • 5 favourite chocolate bars (I used Mars)
    • 2 contrasting texture chocolate bars, chopped (I used Twix)
    • 125g butter, melted
    • 2 eggs
    • 400g digestive biscuits, crushed
    • 60g raisins
    • 60g chopped hazelnuts

    1. In a bowl over simmering water, melt the Mars bars. When fairly soft, stir in the melted butter.
    2. Butter a deep 23cm/9 inch cake tin and coat with finely crushed digestives. Combine remaining crushed digestives with finely chopped Twix bars.
    3. Stir the eggs into the melted Mars bar mixture. Remove from heat and stir in biscuit mixture, raisins and hazelnuts, until well mixed.
    4. Pour into prepared dish. Chill 8 hours or overnight in refrigerator. Turn out onto a serving plate and cut to serve. Keep chilled.

Used different ingredients. I didn't add the raisins, my family doesn't like them.  -  17 Apr 2009  (Review from Allrecipes UK | Ireland)

You can find digestive biscuits in the foreign foods aisle at your local grocery store. I see them every time I go to Wegmans. If you can't find them, graham crackers will suffice.  -  11 Jul 2005  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
