There’s something different about homemade Pizzas. Ain’t it so? The entire process of sourcing the right base ( which gets difficult at times) or making it at home itself, the choice of colourful toppings, the sight of ooey -gooey cheese melting in the oven, the flavours of herbs and eventually relishing every inch of it by patting your own back.... Ahh Delightful...!! They are loads of fun and super easy to make, kids love it too. French bread pizzas are perfect for a weekend lunch, dinner or snack or even for the busy weeknights. These pizzas are scrumptious and wholesome, ten times better than the frozen/outside/take-away ones. I think these French Bread Pizzas are perfect and classy as appetizers in case you plan for a Summer Soiree at home.You can pile on toppings of your choice, with array of Pizza sauces available in the market, Pizzas could be easily made at home..

    • •French Bread Loaf -1 ( I used Garlic French Bread)
    • •Red, Yellow and Green Bell Peppers- julienned ( 1 each)
    • •Tomato – 1 medium sliced
    • •Onion - 1 medium sliced
    • •Handful of Green & Black Pitted Olives
    • •Dried Mixed Herbs - Oregano, Basil, Thyme, Rosemary, Red chilli Flakes
    • •Shredded Mozarella Cheese- 1 Cup
    • •Olive oil - 2tbsps
    • For Instant Pizza Sauce
    • •Tomato Ketchup - 4tbsps
    • •Tobasco Sauce - 2tbsps
    • •Minced Garlic Cloves - 1tsp
    • •Eggless Mayonnaise - 1 tbsp
    • •Pinch of oregano and chilli flakes
    • •Olive oil - 1tbsp


    1. Chop all the veggies to be used as toppings and keep it ready in a bowl or a plate.
    2. Prepare your instant pizza sauce – Take a small bowl, add all the ingredients mentioned above, (under the pizza sauce ingredients) mix them well together and keep aside.( You may use any pizza sauce of your choice)
    3. Meanwhile Pre-heat your oven at 250 degrees Celsius for 8-10 minutes.
    4. Take the French bread loaf; halve the bread gently and evenly. Grease the baking tray with olive oil and also the brush the bread loaves covering the corners and sides with olive oil,
    5. Bake the loaves in the oven for 5-8 minutes at 250 degrees so that we get a crisp and firm crust.
    6. Once you see the bread turning golden and crisp, remove it from the oven. Now smear the loaves with Pizza Sauce, add a bit of shredded mozzarella cheese over it, now add all the chopped veggies randomly, and sprinkle all the herbs- basil, thyme, oregano, rosemary, red chilli flakes.
    7. Cover your pizza crust with loads of mozzarella cheese shreddings and lastly top it with pitted olives- black and green. Bake your pizza at 180 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until all the cheese melts. Keep an eye coz you do not want to burn the top.
    8. French Bread Pizza is ready, serve hot and crisp.


    •The recipe for Pizza sauce may vary, this is definitely not an authentic one, when I am running out of store bought pizza sauce and need something instant, I make it this way. •You may pile toppings of your choice to make your favourite pizza. •The temperature at which you bake a Pizza may differ depending upon the microwave or oven you use. I have mentioned the temperatures for OTG I used for baking. •You may also garnish this french bread pizza with fresh Basil leaves as it gives a nice freshness and looks quite authentic.
