Eggless Chocolate Cake

    This is a delicious chocolate cake for those who can't have eggs, and even for those who can! It also doesn't have milk products.

    Serves: 18 

    • 375g plain flour
    • 375g castor sugar
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 2 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda
    • 45g cocoa powder
    • 180ml vegetable oil
    • 2 tablespoons vinegar
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 500ml cold water

    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:40min 

    1. Sift flour, sugar, salt, bicarb and cocoa together into a 20x30cm ungreased cake tin. Make three wells. Pour oil into one well, vinegar into second, and vanilla into third well. Pour cold water over all, and stir well with fork.
    2. Bake at 180 C for 30 to 40 minutes, or until skewer inserted comes out clean. Ice with your favourite icing.

    why you didn't add baking powder ????  -  20 Dec 2012


    recipe looks so yumm ... just that can't find bicarb near my place.. can i use baking powder(double action) instead of that? pls help.  -  05 May 2012
