    About this recipe: This is my husband's favorite daal. I learned it from my mother-in-law and now, it is one of the best items on our daily menu. This is a very soothing daal and with some deep fried potato fritters, it is a wonderful item to have with rice.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 5 

    • 1 cup massor daal
    • 2.5 cups water
    • 3 medium tomatoes
    • Salt as needed
    • 1/2 tspn turmeric
    • 2 tbspn oil
    • 1 tspn mustard seeds
    • 2-3 slit green chilies

    1. Wash the daal well. Cook it in a pressure cooker with 2.5 cups water and the tomatoes diced into small pieces until fully soft.
    2. Mix the daal well to make a smooth consistency.
    3. In a pan, heat oil. Add the mustard seeds, green chilies, turmeric. Add the daal mixture. Cook until it starts to boil. Add salt as needed. Serve hot with rice and fritters.
